Stamps of French settlements in India (The Lotus Issue)

French settlements India was known as  Établissements français de l'Inde.French reached India in the first half of 16th centuary. The French east india company was founded in 1664 to compete with other rivals in Colonial India (British, Dutch). The Issue date of postage stamps runs from 1892 through 1948. French India was absorbed in real India in 1948 and 1954.

Portuguese India was known as Índia Portuguesa or Estado da Índia. The Portuguese regime in India started in the year 1505 A.D and ended in 1961 A.D.The first postage stamps  of Portuguese India were issued 1 October 1871 and regular issues was released in 1877. The last regular issue  was released on 25 June 1960.

These  are classic items among Nepali stamps First stamps were printed on European paper, but from 1886 they started using native paper made from plant or wood fibres (as far as my understanding it was to reduce the cost in bringing European paper from  Calcutta to the mountainous country).
